They were substantially cheaper so I'm not too mad, but can I even make these like normal steaks without them instantly being well done?

Should I just marinate them and use them for fajitas or something? Any advice is appreciated.

I guess the grocery store was out so they substituted from waffle house 🤷‍♂️

Once again, a direct reminder for people to never use instacart or other garbage apps like that if you can avoid it. Their employees are uneducated, unskilled, over entitled, and would care nothing about giving you a garbage order. Then you hear them complain because nobody is tipping them well. After they they batch picked up 3 orders at once making your order spend an hour plus thawing defrosting and spoiling in their cars.

I have no sympathy for you, you trusted an idiot to go do your grocery shopping for you.

  3. To me, those are breakfast steaks; to be cooked on the cast iron in the bacon grease (previously cooked on the pan, that you will also be consuming) along with the bacon, hash browns, and pancakes. (Or a pecan waffle, thus rounding out my Waffle House order)

Great little breakfast steaks!! Lean, yeah. But great 6 oz of protein to start the day with!

I’d honestly be kinda pissed if I got these in my delivery lol. I mean I’d still eat them but I’d be mean mugging each bite

I never understood how people can let some random person choose their groceries for them.

The first thing that popped in my mind was, that looks like africa

Man my mom used to buy steaks that looked like this all the time. I explained to her so many times that’s there’s a difference between meat being pounded thin to tenderize and just a cheap thin steak that’s going to suck.

You can get a good look at a T-bone by sticking your head up a butcher’s ass… No, wait. It’s gotta be your bull.

This makes me want to go sit in the car.

    LOL “USDA Inspected”

I call it “USDA Looked At”… “yep, that’s a steak, send it out”

I have a regional discount grocery store. Their meats are the offcuts. I’ve had super thin steaks like these from them before – I just cook them super quickly, like counting 30 elephants a side quick. They usually come out alright, and mean we can have steak when the grocery budget doesn’t stretch to steak.

On one hand I’d be mad too but on the other hand, cant really complain that much about what you get when you order in your groceries, especially meat selection.

Need some more context here. Did you order 1” thick, choice t-bones? Or specify some spec to what you were ordering? What was your $/lbs? That would be a good indicator.

While those are well marbled, or thick, they are t-bones. I wouldn’t be happy with those either.

I know this isn’t entirely what you’re asking, but personally, I wouldn’t cook this. Rather, thin cuts of t-bones make *excellent* biltong chili snapsticks, albiet with a standard t-bone, ~15% is bone weight.

Here’s [Alton Brown’s recipe ](https://altonbrown.com/recipes/homemade-beef-jerky/) for a version that’s not very spicy. If you don’t want to do his random box fan & AC filter setup, a dehydrator on its lowest setting (preferably at or below 125’F) for 12 to 16 hours does the trick. Also, I’d recommend marinating for 18 to 24 hours beforehand to give the worchestershire some time to do their enzyme magic.

And as fate would have it I’m literally on my way out the door to pick some up because they’re on sale at my local meat packer for [$6.49/lb](https://www.peoriapacking.com/specials) and I’m gunna take this as a sign to close reddit. Good luck.

Just cut the tenderloin and ny off the bone and fast fry them. Save the bones for stock. Shame to ruin t bones by cutting them so thin.
