[Music] Good morning everyone. New week, new video. [Music] Good morning. El went to the store to the grocery store on West Renaissance. Get some stuff to cook. So, I don’t know. in six weeks. Second time I think I go to the grocery store. So um well um my mother-in-law she will introduce me to this world. Yes. At the light turn left by drive. Audi’s. Audi’s Yes. I am just learning about Audi’s myself. Um, I usually go to Stater Brothers or the Walmart Super Center, but last week I went to Aldi’s and I discovered that I want to go to Aldi’s again. So, today we’re going to Aldi’s. Yeah, I see someone in um Tik Tok, she was talking about it. They have like good stuff and cheaper than Walmart. So, yeah. Yeah, this one that we’re going to is a little bigger than the one that I went to last week. Um, from the looks on the website, it has a bigger choice of fruits and vegetables. And so, we’ll see what their meat section looks like as well cuz I didn’t visit the meat section. Yeah, I think I need to translate too for the people who talking to with with Arabic. Anyway, supermarket. [Music] This is this is it supermarket. Anyway, [Music] the price is good for this. That’s like stick. [Music] Have you ever tried the fish? Have you tried this before? Yeah. In in in the restaurant. Oh, yeah. But I didn’t never cook it. Can we take that that shrimp like the similar that we use? The one that’s have like butter, garlic. Not here. Okay. This one with herbs. Sea salt cold. We done from shopping. Yeah. Let me get all of these things. It was fun to do. Hello everyone. Hi. So we decide to make or to cook um tajin le beef with clam dry clam. So it’s the first time. Wow. I’ve never tried that before. I’m excited. I know it’s going to be good. So wow. Let’s get started. Let’s get started. Here. You know what? You have to wash it first. [Music] What do we want? [Music] Let’s have um fat. So, we don’t need to put [Music] easier for plate, but it cooks really well. It’s have fat. So when you when you have like meat with fat, you don’t have to um cut the fat off. No, you have when you cook it, don’t put much oil. Yeah, just little. Yeah, you can pass if you want. It’s okay. [Music] teamwork. Teamwork. We need like two onions. Anything [Music] you want me to do? I feel like my hands should be shaking your Yeah, I want to use the the plant. Just put it in the water to wash. I think here. She want to cook too. [Music] Really? It was here. You put it here. [Music] Oh, it’s way back here. That’s behind the rice. [Music] Okay. First of all, beef [Music] in there. This is going to be so good. Got [Music] the onion. Oh, that’s interesting because um the way we would cook the roast beef is um we put it in a skillet and we get it really really we get the skillet really really hot and um we fry it. Fry it. Um not necessarily fry it. Not to not fry to cook, but to to get the crust on each side. Okay. And then after you after you get the crust on each side, um the pan that my mom would cooked it in, she put um cream of mushroom. Okay. Onions, carrots, um maybe some celery, and some potatoes. actually put it in the oven and let it rest. So good and tender. Yeah. For what? How many hours? Um it once you put the prem in I think probably like an hour, hour and a half, something like that. Okay. [Music] She would definitely season it. She would season it and you know with whatever she What season that you use? She would use um not too much salt. My mom Yeah, she you know they begin to let’s lighten up on salt. She would use accent cry. I know accent and um a little bit of sea salt and pepper. You know, one of my favorite seasonings used to be, you know, all seasoned seasoning salt. Um maybe a little garlic salt, onion powder. Um just not too much salt, but the flavor was the flavor would be so good. Oh, but she would also add onion soup. Like uh got me crying too. Yeah. This this um this onion is strong. Yeah. Yeah. Fresh. Yeah. When an onion make you cry, that mean it’s fresh. [Music] And then you put them on the stove. And what do you do? to run your hands. Oh, I’m sorry. Cold water after you finish chopping up. [Music] Sorry guys. We done. We’re baking a lot over here. Dad. Okay. So, we done here. Turn on. I’m not going to I’m not going to put oil because uh the meat have fat. So, we want to use the the the the fat from the oil. Okay. I was searching for the plum. I didn’t find it. But I find this one. It’s small. See how it’s look? Small. Yeah. So, um yeah, we’ll cook it later cuz doesn’t need time to cook. I know. It’s very Yeah. It’s It’s new for you, right? I know. Yeah. You see like this is like the flavors of the Moroccan food. I mean, yeah. You mix the the we mix like the salty food with with the sweet with the sweet. Yes. But you’re never going to feel it because it’s a good it’s a nice delicious combination between the material too. Yeah. Cuz I probably would have eaten it thinking, “Oh my god, my stomach is upset. I’m going to have a plum.” you know actually because when it’s cooked does not do the same thing that it do when when it is um when it is um I mean uh wrong right yeah so just like um we see this side let’s see we turn it to this side Carefully. [Music] So, how long does this usually? How long? Yes. How long? because we don’t I’m not let’s use the the cooker pressure. So my need like an hour and a 15 minutes. Oh, okay. Yeah. Because with the pressure we use it only for like like 45 minutes, right? We don’t have one. Yeah. [Music] So, where I put the salt? Salt or salt? Salt. It’s right here. Well, you see when you are short, you need always like salt. [Music] There we go. Yeah. Thank you. Like I don’t know how I I’m a person that I don’t use like um measurements. Yeah. So I just like put my eyes. Well, it’s just like a small um teaspoon of of salt. So yeah, that’s salt. Yeah, that’s sea salt. So uh yeah, my mother my mother is doing that too. She don’t she don’t use like um spoon or something too much. She just like It was in her hands. Hi, Grandma. Hi. Oh, no. We’re filming cooking. Oh, what? That’s okay. You’re Oh, it’s okay. Yeah. [Music] You had a girl. [Music] So you didn’t add you just only added salt. No other. Yeah, just that and we added like um all the spices. Spices. Yeah. So you have to tell us what you’re going to be adding. Of course. Okay. We use like the black paper. As I said, I don’t use um Like black pepper. Just like a half of spoon, right? What is this one? White pepper. Okay. White pepper. Just a little bit to give it that spice. [Music] We have the ginger powder. Just like another teaspoon. We put turmeric. Turmeric. Yeah. Just like a half spoon. Paprika is like a a spoon. It means small spoon. Yeah. All the famous name spices. [Music] Yeah. And I will add it the garlic powder. It’s It’s nice to put like fresh garlic, but this one tastes good. I use it all the time. So, yeah. Just like I need you to do something for me. Yeah. I need just hot water. Hot water. How much? Like two glasses. I will be adding some olive oil. [Music] Now this is as hot. It’s like lukewarm. Yeah. Just [Music] need to cover [Music] to cover [Music] otherwise. [Music] Okay. Okay. We will leave it there. [Music] Take another pot. We will put the clam. We’ll wash it from the gas or whatever. [Music] And we added like sugar. [Music] It’s going to be like a like a jam. Um yeah, somehow. And we will add the cinnamon stick here. I will add like big one here. Cinnamon. And we need some butter. Yeah, regular butter. Yeah, regular one. Okay. So, we added um the butter and leave it until um it’s almost done. Then we put it on to cook. Yeah. [Music] Need a whole stick. No, no, no. Just Just [Music] like this. [Music] Yeah, that’s it. And we will leave it until later. So we always keep it. [Music] Yeah. Now we will come back after after 1 hour and we 1 hour and 15 minutes because we’re not using the pressure cooker. So we’ll let it cook by itself. See you later. Goodbye. [Music] Now we cook the really quick here. Almost almost done. Microwave. But those but those ants were not those were the type of ants did not bite. They just were irritating ants. They were in Hey, the small one, the black one, they don’t they don’t bite. But no, those things I think it was like a documentary about the American ants like I think the white one that’s dangerous. The red ones. Red I hardly ever see red. One day I did see a red one and it looked like it was lost or maybe maybe he was trying to find a good spot or you know to leave his someone to bite or or maybe I don’t know maybe they sent him out to look for something but I’ve never seen that. The only thing I see pouring out of this grass is blackheads with a big head. Yeah, big head. Yeah. Even the little I said no I didn’t see no one. I mean just the mosquito a lot outside. Yeah. And they’re also they’re called um the white goats but they’re like they’re similar to mosquitoes. They bite but you can’t see them. I don’t know. I don’t know. I used to stay in a friend’s house and we would do garbage and you could never see what was biting you. It was just I think she told me that I was like I’ve never heard of that. White ghost mosquito. Yeah mosquito. Yeah. I mean I don’t like mosquitoes. I don’t like mosquitoes either. And back back in Morocco, we had like some mosquitoes. They just like when you wearing like a bright bright [Music] bright colors, you’ll see yourself like all of them. They stick on on your Yeah. And your especially the especially the the yellow colors. Wow. Now you will see like spots like What is this? Like all of them like Oh no. They think they think you’re a flower. The color is cool. That’s funny. It’s cool. Oh my gosh. Yeah. Especially I mean in the the spring spring time because a lot of flowers, a lot of greens and all that you see a lot of lights. And then that’s the color you want to avoid mirroring. Oh my god. Yeah. If you see someone with with like a bright color just you see like have Oh my god. [Music] real fast. No, other than that mosquitoes and I don’t think I really experienced mosquitoes until I move out here because I’ve always lived in apartments. So, we weren’t around like, you know, a lot of excessive gardening and grass. I mean, there was, but we’ve always lived on the second floor. Just that one time I experienced those hands and hiding like I I did experience in Jamaica. In Jamaica when they bite you it gets black. Oh yeah. You’re you’re crazy. I was crying one time. Yeah. You look Yeah. You look the skin looks so bad from the fight. That’s how months until you get back. That’s how that’s how well the ant. That’s how my ankle look. I look like I had just got over the chicken pot. Yeah, because I had spots all over my ankle and my my foot and my sand. It looks like I wanted to check my Okay, it smells good. [Music] The smell of the cinnamon. It smells good. Yeah. [Music] Well, sin ready. The beef is ready. I was just waiting for the plant. It’s almost [Music] back. It’s so typical in the in the black family to have had well even back in the day to have the pork and the food. Yeah. And I guess my mom now the fruit in the kitchen. Oh. Oh, yeah. Yeah. That’s mean. You are in the kitchen. See? Yeah. We We in Morocco, I mean, we don’t have something like that, but we have like Yeah. But we call it Katrina. [Music] The name of it French. [Music] We put like you know the dishes but the mothers in Morocco they the they they put like the expensive dishes it’s called tawos and we put it there that one never you will eat on it just the guest those dishes for the guest only you will dream to eat on that dishes right yeah Every Moroccan family they have that dishes. It’s a blue one with with that bird who have china. Yeah. The blue china. The blue china. Exactly. And you know we have plenty of that. Yeah. So trust me. Tell your mother. It’s the easiest. Crazy. Yeah. Crazy. My mother needs to maybe like once every two months pull out all the china. I wash them one by one. Place them carefully back inside the Chinese closet. Yeah. And come near the kitchen cuz you didn’t want to risk Yeah. being broke. Yeah. Well, if you broke it, I mean, you will go you will sleep outside that day. You will sleep outside if you Yeah. We we watch them like twice a year or when it is day we celebrate something, right? Yeah. We bring it but have to be like guest coming otherwise you will eat in the normal one. Exactly. Yeah. Exactly. So we use it and then the you clean it and I mean wipe it and you have to put it right away in the place and hide this. All for show. Yeah. Show and tell and let the guests arrive. The ones you thought was important enough to bring it out. Yeah. So we have like some neighbors they will want to borrow borrow that that from us. Yeah. And your mother have to say get the nail polish and put it in the back so we can remember that’s my if you give Marshals he did borrow it. Wow. Yeah. Like if they celebrate something and he invited a lot of people so they will from you. So um before you give it you you see like the get nail polish so it will not leave they put like a X sign there on the back. Yeah. I said tell you something. I say I give you my plate. It’s have a X with red or with pink or whatever. That’s smart. That’s smart. No I think everyone has those traditions. I I love to go thrifting and things like that, but to have a set I never I never carried on that tradition. I think and I wonder if that’s going to go out like eventually like because I don’t know if that’s something that you would carry on into your home where you collect collectibles and save them for gas. I mean like dishes. Well, this those those uh plates it’s by the way I mean it’s something like from years. Yeah. Like you know I mean years ago who have that plates I mean they are they are rich. So u uh Yes. So those plates it’s it’s it’s part of the culture. Part of the culture. So you have to get it. I know. But I often think like, you know, my mom has a lot to do. I’ve seen it. And so it’s like, okay, who would I pass it down to? Maybe. I mean, I mean, now that my son has a wife, definitely pass it down to you. Oh, that’s But if I if they say you were not, you know, I have two sons like I know that I would pass it to them, right? to them but they wouldn’t you know what I mean they wouldn’t see and understand the meaning and the concept behind it exactly I mean you know this new generation they don’t know what is mean because um they don’t they don’t care about I mean the food and cook it so people who cook or he grew up like with family who who cook like like you so they will they will care about I mean have to have like a good dishes Because they will think that it’s just a dish. That’s life. For me, it means something that to have that dish right on that plate. That’s so true. That’s so true. Look like [Music] what’s it looking like? Yeah. [Music] We have like caramel. Yeah. Yeah. We are done. We are done. Food is ready. [Music] All right. Let’s see what it’s going to be. We have to place the beef first. [Music] Then you will break that. See that? By the way, you see we didn’t put any oil. Yeah. And just the the beef from we just put only the the olive oil. So just like on you. Now we bring our cling [Music] on the top of the leaf. [Music] This plant Yummy. Yeah. And let’s give it a try. Yay. [Music] And by the way, we are in Morocco, we eat with bread. Bread is it’s something like uh must. It’s a must. Yeah. So you will you will taste Yeah. It’s something. Yeah. I’m waiting for [Music] Delish. What is What is the flavor of that? Delicious. I can’t even explain it. It’s very um first of all, the meat is very flavorful and it’s tender. It’s tender with the onions and the paprika and the I don’t know. Now I’m going to taste it with the the jam. The jam. Plum plum. The plum jam. How about that? [Music] You see the sweet and the the the salty. The sweet and not sour, but salty. The sweet and the sour. It just it goes together. Yeah. Delicious. So, from from 10. Oh, I’m giving this a 10. Oh, really? I’m going to give this a 10. Yes. Yes. Well, it was missing some um things in decoration like sesame and almond we put on at the top. And yeah, I try to do it in a proper way like like in the weddings because that dish is for the wedding. And by the way, we have like um as I told you, I mean uh when we cook it home by itself, we um we we can make like fries, French fries. I mean, if we don’t want to put the plant this good. This is good. This is amazing. Yeah. Thank you. I learned a new recipe today. Well, that was our episode for today and um there’s more to come and if next week you will be cooking. It will be American day next week. You do that. All right. Yeah. We’ll search for something to to make me learn. Yeah. But it was fun today. I mean, we went for um to supermarket. Yes. Yeah, we went to a shop and I want to go back there. There’s some really cute stuff. Yes. Um so, I want to get some stuff there. Definitely. We will go. Exactly. Anyway, we are going to eat now. Um join us. Thanks for joining us next week. Wish you could taste it. It’s really, really good. I cannot wait to eat, too. I’m hungry. Anyway guys, see you next week and later. Bye. Bye.
