If you’re in New York and you love barbecue meat, then you have to come check out Joha in Flushing. They do Chinese style barbecue with different types of Chinese dipping sauces, including cumin powder, which is my favorite. But what sets them apart from other Korean barbecue and Chinese barbecue restaurants in the city is that they use actual burning hot charcoal as their main heat source. This gives the meat an extra smokiness flavor that you won’t find elsewhere. They’ll also cook the meat for you. Then you can dip the meat in their six different types of dipping sauces. This is so delicious. They also have a really good variety of marinated and unmarinated types of meat, including one that is served in pineapple with the pineapple juices and sprinkled on top of it. This is truly a meat lover’s paradise. They also have the more traditional Chinese skewers. Seafood lovers, fear not because they also have different types of seafood, including the shrimp and these tiny fishes. If you’re a veggie eater, fear not. No judgment. They also have different types of veggies and they also taste great. So overall, this place is definitely worth the trek out to Flushing.
