NILES Sculptures built entirely of canned goods were “decanstructed” after being on display at the Eastwood Mall since May 16, 2025.

The sculptures were built as part of “Canstruction”, an event that benefits Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning County.

The 2025 theme was “GAMES: Win The Battle Against Hunger”, and featured some examples of summer games.

Visitors to the Eastwood Mall, located at 5555 Youngstown Warren Road in Niles, have been able to vote on their favorite sculptures since May.

The People’s Choice award, which is awarded to the recipient based on voter favorite, was given to Daniel Haggerty for his construction of a bowling ball and pin.

All of the cans used to build the structures by the participating teams were donated to Second Harvest Food Bank after being deconstructed on Monday.

Johnny Chechitelli, Regional Director of Marketing and Communications at the Eastwood Mall Complex, told 21 News the total number of cans that are to be donated.

“In total, we had over 5,100 cans this year that are now being delivered to Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning County,” said Chechitelli.

Chechitelli went on to say that organizers have plans for the 2026 “Canstruction” event.

“Next year, we’re already planning it [and] we’re getting it ready, we’re going to do something with the aquarium theme,” said Chechitelli.

Eight teams participated in the 2025 “Canstruction” event, including:
