Cheeseburger Hamburger Helper from scratch because I absolutely did not want to cook tonight—like not even a little bit—but this one’s easy, fast, and everyone eats it without complaining. #homemadehamburgerhelper #cheeseburgerhelper #easydinner #momdinnerwin #nobrainermeal #dinnerhack #lazycooking #quickfamilymeals #weeknightdinnerideas #notfeelingitbutfedthem #comfortfoodclassic #dinnerin30minutes #kidapprovedmeals

My husband wants Hamburger Helper and I don’t want to [ __ ] cook. But Hamburger Helper is easy. So, let’s do this, I guess. And if you thought I was making Hamburger Helper from a box, that’s cute. Not in this house. I’m not going out to buy special boxes of Hamburger Helper when I have all of the components at home and I can just throw it together whenever the [ __ ] I want. Last time I packaged my ground beef, I did it in 2 and 12 lb increments, which is arguably too much for Hamburger Helper, but I don’t care. Having a child crying in the background is a requirement, though. Chop your beef up aggressively, or don’t. If yours is still frozen like mine is, I took this out hours ago. And yes, after I touched the raw meat packaging, I did wash my [ __ ] hands. It has been what feels like an eternity. My beef is brown. My beef is crispy. My beef is no longer gray. And now it is drained by way of this paper towel. Well, don’t drain your grease down your sink. You don’t need that, Bill. But we are making cheeseburger hamburger helper, which means couple tablespoons of mustard because you want it to taste like a burger. Again, burger vibes. More ketchup than mustard. Probably a/4 cup. A healthy splash of your favorite pickle juice. That looks good. Close your fridge. Diced minced onion. Some garlic salt. Pepper. This is a stupid utensil to use to stir this. Healthy squirt of tomato paste. beef broth. Your house should smell like a deconstructed hamburger at this point. That’s a good sign. Stir this [ __ ] around and bring it to a simmer. Things are starting to happen inside of this pot and I don’t want to stand here watching this any longer. So, egg noodles, a whole bag. Don’t burn yourself. Keep in mind, I’m making a massive batch because I had 2 and 12 lbs of ground beef. You don’t have to do that. Pop a lid on this [ __ ] and allow it to simmer on medium heat until it’s done. Some time has elapsed and things are happening in our pot. Oh, look. Most of the liquid is absorbed. I have cheese, various types, because I can’t be trusted to make sure I have all the right ingredients in the house before I start cooking. And also, I’m not hand shredding cheese today. Nope. I have this cheese, a whole bag of it. Spoiler alert, I think we’re going to need more. It’s looking good. Not quite cheesy enough. So, we are going to throw in some slices of cheddar cheese. It’s fine if your cheese isn’t the correct shape. It’s going to melt in the pot anyways. Stop stressing out about cheese. You could use American cheese for all I care. I quite literally don’t care. I’m not eating yours. I’m eating mine. You could totally add bacon bits to this and then it would be a bacon cheeseburger hamburger helper. Do what you want in your home. And here you have it. Hamburger helper. Homemade from scratch. No box. And I know what you’re thinking. Is it even good? And I’m thinking the same thing. Let’s give it a taste. That is so good. Make this [ __ ] But of course it’s good. I made it. Follow along for more aggressive tutorials.

  1. When you cook hamburger cook it with some water it will cook a lot faster expecally when it's frozen trust me I've saved lots of time just a trick of the trade 20 years in the food industry and ten kids later hope this helps

  3. Girl, do yourself a favor and get a "defroster plate". I wish I had one long before I was 58. Around $10-$20 on Amazon. Your frozen 2.5lb chunk of ground beef, would be completely defrosted in 3 hours

  4. Imo not hamburger helper, just a tasty noodle dish. If my wife was craving hamburger helper and I made her this she would probably like it, but be disappointed.

  5. When you bag it again… run a rolling pin over your bag of meat… it thaws in half the time!! We buy those big packs too from sams.

  6. I always make my own also. When this stuff was less than 75 cents a box it was a cheap meal now you gotta chef that shit up.

  7. You have plenty of room to flatten out the beef before you freeze. It thaws much faster
