I keep getting asked for more meal ideas, so here’s tonight’s slop.

If you haven’t seen my posts yet, I have a really hard time chewing for reasons, so I mostly eat soft foods nowadays. I’m also on a calorie deficit for weight loss and am under the guidance of a licensed dietitian, AND I’m very tired and lazy most of the time so I try to cook as little as possible.

This is a chicken and smoked sausage teriyaki bowl with bell peppers, green beans, and cauliflower rice.

The sausage is skinless, which is crucial and makes it a lot easier to chew than normal smoked sausage. I’d probably cut it into smaller pieces next time cuz it did take a bit for me to get down.

The trick to eating vegetables when you can’t chew is to use frozen or canned; they cook down into a much softer texture much more quickly than fresh. Canned chicken is also very easy to mash up with your tongue. 👅

I have pretty bad TMJ so I appreciate the soft food representation. Also this sounds fantastic

I thought this was jambalaya at first. It’s honestly looks really good and not at all like an unacceptable meal.

This looks seriously good. I bet Spam would work well here as a swap out for the sausage.

I think you should open a Slop Food truck and then tell me where it’s parked!

    That looks really good actually

ETA do you have an electric pressure cooker like an Instant Pot? I have inadvertently made some really good tasting slop in that thing just because it’s easy to overcook stuff.

Hey fellow chewing problem haver. I also have bruxism, among other things. I too had slop for dinner! Mine was coconut Korma with canned shredded chicken and coconut rice. It literally looked like baby food, but it was delicious. I feel your pain though, I’ve broken teeth on things as soft as hash browns. Soft food is a must.

Hey! I’ve been looking for more soft food recipes actually, I sadly have to get the rest of my upper teeth out soon here thanks to illness and I’m not looking forward to it. This looks amazing!

You’re most of the way to jambalaya. You should try it.

If you have chewing problems I’d cut those hot dogs/sausages smaller. They are one of the top choking hazards.
