Stocks of Italian extra virgin olive oil are increasingly decreasing: as of July 31st, according to the timely report of theInstitute for the Repression of Fraud (Icqrf), they remained 45.200 tons in stock, of which approximately 7.800 packaged and the rest loose (-12 thousand compared to the previous month). The reserves of foreign extra virgin olive oil are much more substantial: Almost 69 thousand tons, of which 57.745 are community-based. The picture is completed by other 47 thousand tons of minor categories including virgin, lampante, refined and pomace, for a total supply of olive oils equal to 162.160 tons, 8% less than last year.
The supply of foreign oil by the oil industry means that today there is more extra virgin olive oil available in Tuscany (26.621 tons) and in Puglia (26.621) and that in Umbria (18.234 tons) has more extra virgin olive oil than Calabria, Sicily and Campania put together.
At the provincial level Perugia (17.179 tons) outclasses Bari (11.426) which is closely followed by Siena (10.207)And to tell the truth, the capital of Puglia remains on the podium only thanks to 7 thousand tons of second-choice oil, of which almost 5 thousand are pomace oil. Record for lampante instead in Reggio Calabria (5.700 tons) followed by Brindisi (almost 2 thousand).
Al I’m highlighting the availability of organic oil (18 thousand tons, equally divided between Italian and foreign extra virgin), here too with Toscana that is confirmed leader ahead of Puglia and Umbria.
