October is the month when most new guides of restaurants and wineries for the following year are released. The following guides are already available outside of Italy. Some books are also available as e-books, and I recommend getting these, as the Gambero Rosso I bought this week already weighs nearly 3 lbs.

Osterie d’Italia 2025: This Slow Food guide, published on October 29, 2024, offers a comprehensive overview of 1,917 eateries, including osterie, agriturismi, and restaurants that stand out for their regional cuisine, careful selection of ingredients, and authentic atmosphere. Additionally, this edition introduces a new section called “Locali Quotidiani,” which highlights alternative eateries such as pastifici, pubs, and enotecas with kitchens.

Guida alle Birre d’Italia 2025: This guide, released in May 2024, focuses on Italian beer culture and presents a selection of 785 locations where one can taste and purchase craft beers made in microbreweries. Of these locations, 97 are rated as excellent, and 96 have received the new “golosi” distinction.

Gault&Millau Guide Italy 2025: This guide offers an extensive selection of Italian restaurants and culinary professionals. The 2025 edition has recently been launched and includes reviews of various eateries in Italy.
This edition is not yet available online, so try to order it at your local bookstore.
Gambero Rosso Ristoranti d’Italia 2025: This guide, presented on October 21, 2024, contains an extensive list of the best restaurants in Italy. In this edition, 52 restaurants have been awarded the highest distinction, the “Tre Forchette” (Three Forks). Lombardy leads the list with the highest number of award-winning restaurants.
