When I’m at the bottom of a bag of coffee and there isn’t enough for a shot I toss it into this jar. Adventure awaits.

  1. I dig this! Do you keep it in the freezer while it fills up?

We do the same with the small miscellaneous amounts leftover from roasting. The mystery blend is different every week and we don’t track what goes into it so replication is impossible lol. But it’s a fun experiment!

I do the same! I call it the mystery jar and it is used whenever I am desperate, feel lucky or when I am serving coffee to my mum, who waters down a single espresso and then dilutes it with milk and cocoa…

Similar thing in the Whiskey world, called an “Infinity bottle” – The last shots and drops from your bottles.

i do something similar, though for me its a ziplock in the freezer

In the liquor world, bourbon in particular, we call this an infinity bottle. Add 1oz or 2 of each bottle. Let it sit. Then drink down to 1/2 or 1/4. Refill with new bottles. Etc.

  7. That is a great idea. Will do it too. Thanks. 👏👏👏

I use what’s left and add beans from a fresh bag. If the extraction time goes up or down by a couple of seconds, I’ll know I have to adjust the grinder.

The espresso “blend” will still be fine and it helps dialing in the new beans faster.
