Ever since Taylor Swift announced her obsession with sourdough bread on her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast, we’ve been dying to make some ourselves. If she’s in her “granny sh-t” era, then so are we! One flavor in particular caught our interest: Funfetti sourdough bread.
Last week, the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” singer revealed on Travis and Jason Kelce’s New Heights podcast to announce her upcoming album, The Life of a Showgirl. Jason asked her what she does now that her Eras Tour is over, and she shared, “Right now, we’re very deep in a sourdough obsession that has taken over my life.”

Swift also shared some of her favorite flavors: blueberry lemon, cinnamon swirl, and cinnamon raisin. But one recipe that has alluded her is one she is trying to make for Jason Kelce’s daughters, who love putting sprinkles in things. “And this one I’ve been workshopping for the girls because they love everything rainbow: Funfetti sourdough,” Swift said.
Well, Funfetti — the makers of those delicious, ‘90s-style birthday cakes — stepped up to the plate and revealed a Funfetti sourdough recipe for Swifties to try.
“It’s me, hi, I’m the Funfetti sourdough, it’s me👋 @taylorswift,” the Funfetti and Pillsbury Baking Instagram accounts shared on Instagram this week.
“Picture this: chewy sourdough, folded with rainbow sprinkles, baked into the ultimate celebration loaf,” Funfetti said in a statement. “The crossover nobody saw coming, but everyone kneads.”
Swift, who also shared tons of bread puns on the podcast, like, “it’s a loaf story, baby just say yeast,” will love this, we’re sure!
Now for the actual recipe. You’ll need 150g active sourdough starter, 500g Pillsbury Best Bread Flour, sprinkles from a Funfetti Celebrations Cake Mix, and a few other ingredients. To make, you’ll mix starter and water together until the starter has dissolved. Then, add in other ingredients and let rest for an hour. You’ll do 3-4 stretches and folds every 30 minutes, adding in half of the sprinkles during the last two folds. From there, you’ll let the dough rest until it grows, which can take anywhere from 4 to 8 hours.
When it’s ready, you’ll stretch the dough into a square, then pour the remaining sprinkles over the dough. You’ll roll it, then transfer to a floured proofing basket before putting it in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning, you can bake in a Dutch oven or bread loaf maker. There are more detailed instructions for shaping, baking, and cooling, which you’ll need to follow for the recipe to come out right (because we all know how fickle bread making can be!). When it’s ready to serve, you can top it with vanilla frosting and/or additional sprinkles.
We are obsessed, and we can’t wait to see if Swift ends up trying this recipe for her boyfriend’s nieces.
