A great restaurant, showcasing the best of British food. I liked the service style – all tables at the same time, open kitchen so you can see them finish the dishes. Great service, and a stunning very English setting.

Duck broth was deep and flavourful

Pepper had a sweet sticky sauce on it, nice crisp and fresh. Good flavour in the dip. Pepper flavour lingered well

Carrot and cheese tart. A nice one biter, especially if you lovely carrot like me

Baby sweetcorn. They said it's only at it's peak for a few weeks. Lovely and sweet, slightly charred

Scallops. In a crisp shell, lovely hint of chilli and slight sweetness from the honey

Alliums. Great depth of onion and garlic flavour

Chicken wing. Tender, good flavour. The heart was a bit meh

Sourdough and butter. Fairly standard

Lobster. Lovely BBQd tail, rich deep sauce and freshness from tomatoes

Seabass. Beautiful piece of fish, sauce and salad lifted it and provided freshness

Duck. Nicely cooked, rich sauce, didn't really stand out but still decent

Apricots. Slightly tart and sweet, a good pre dessert

Plums. Sweet and tart, well balanced, a clean finish to the meal

Choux. A nice fruity petit four

That looks absolutely lovely, exactly what I would want fine dining in English countryside to look like.
