Beans were dark roasted about 2 weeks ago. I was surprised by the foam burst, never seen that before but I've never used beans this fresh. I cut out the pre infusion so put away your stopwatches, it was delicious.

  1. That happens when the water becomes steam. Take the portafilter off and check what happens when you start the water, it should be a shower not steam.

this has happened to me several times.
I use beans from sam’s I grind them in a Baratza encore (the normal one not the ESP ) in grind size #4, and use my Delonghi ECP 3240… I’m just new at making coffee.

It taste good so I’m not complaining.

This usually happens when I’ve accidentally turned the steam mode on before pouring my shot 😀
