Stats: 29 F, 5'10" 170>155 final gw 150

Most of my adult life I weighed ~150lb. A year AFTER covid ended (🙄) I noticed my weight creeping up, until it hit my highest of 173 after the holidays this year. I had tried off and on to lose in the few years getting here, but always restricted too hard (1200 cals a day at 5'10"? Don't mind how dumb that was) and ended up losing and gaining back the same 5-10lb.

This year I decided I was finally going to get back in shape, because I finally had the best motivation to do it- my partner asked if I wanted to get engaged! Life happened in early spring- went on a big vacation in March, switched jobs in April, and mid-May my bf officially proposed 🥰

This time I tried a different approach. Rather than specifically tracking calories, I started watching fiber and saturated fat intake. We had found out we have elevated cholesterol so tracking was now about improving our health instead of just losing weight. By trying to hit 30g of fiber a day and keep sat. fat near 10g I found it was easy to feel satisfied, and my calories were falling around 1500-1700 most days without particularly trying to cut. I've successfully lost 15lb, his LDL went from 160 to 95 in just four months (!!), and I swear the increased fiber has made me feel so much less bloated and puffy.
And yes I absolutely still have what I crave in moderation- eating a big coffee roll donut with my coffee as I type this!

Down 15lb after switching mindset to health over weight loss. High fiber and low saturated fat dialed me in to 1500-1700. Eat your beans!!

I’ve just swapped from a stricter 1200 cal diet that was causing me to yo-yo to a hopefully more stable 1500ish with a focus on protein and fibre, it’s helping with my satiety so much

That’s a super satisfying graph! Good job!

Ok re: fiber – obvi fruit and veg are a great source of that, but i find tracking veg so tedious. Like do i really have to weigh my lettuce? Do you do that?
