On the nose it comes earthy with lighty leather and oak, then toast and tobacco rolling in, prune and truffle showing , fig and tar in the background, wet leaves and cedar. I find the truffle very distinctive.

Anyone else tried the 1988 Pomerol and picked up a different nose?

  1. Damn, that sounds like an incredible experience. I’ve never had the chance to try a Pétrus, but your description almost made me taste it. That truffle + prune + cedar combo sounds like it’d hit deep—like walking through an old library after a fall rain.

Thanks for sharing the notes—definitely bookmarking this for the day I ever get lucky enough to open a bottle like that.
