With a heat wave bearing down on us, doesn’t ice cream sound nice?

If you’re wondering what the most popular brand of ice cream in Oregon is, a German website about espresso machines and other coffee paraphernalia has come up with an answer for you.

In the latest example of a trending list from an unexpected source, Coffeeness has analyzed Google Trends data to determine the most popular packaged ice cream brand in every U.S. state.

It’s probably not a surprise to learn that homegrown favorite Tillamook is the most popular brand of frozen sweet treat in our state. It might be a surprise to learn that it’s also the most popular ice cream in five other states — Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah and New Mexico.

Tillamook is a dairy cooperative founded in 1909 by farmers in the Oregon coast county for which it’s named. A beloved local company, it was also Oregon’s pick last year when a software company put out a list of each state’s favorite brand.

In case you’re wondering what our neighbors to the north and south prefer, Washington was one of 14 states that loves Ben & Jerry’s and California is one of 13 states where Jeni’s is the most popular.

And unrelated to ice cream, we want to point out the tagline from Coffeeness’ website just because it made us chuckle: Anyone who drinks capsule coffee has lost control of their life.
