Arrivederci to a popular Italian chain that opened its first pair of sister restaurants right here in Columbus back in the ‘90s.
Bravo Brio Restaurants, parent company of Bravo Italian Kitchen and Brio Italian Grille, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time in five years in order to reorganize and restructure business operations and debt.
Bravo Brio told NRN in a statement, “In addition, ongoing inflationary pressure, rising food and labor costs, and a softening in discretionary consumer spending have contributed to underperformance, especially in shopping centers with high vacancies and declining foot traffic.”

The first Bravo and first Brio were opened right here in Columbus by the Doody Family, who owns Lindey’s and the popular upscale Italian restaurant, Bar Italia. But Rick and Chris Doody sold Bravo and Brio to Orlando-based Earl Enterprises in 2018. Rick Doody told 614Now that he’s not familiar with the situation, and does not know Earl Enterprises’ plan with going through this bankruptcy, as he’s not affiliated with the restaurant group anymore.
The Brio at The Greene announced via a sign on the door on Tuesday that they’re closing permanently. A location in Canton and another in Lyndhurst also abruptly closed.
