We have a small gardening club at work and the other day we had a tomato tasting of what we have grow this year, the winner of this year it’s “Dad’s Sunset”, such an interesting tomato, not tart, very fresh, super smooth. perfect for a Arugula salad with feta 🫠

I’d be interested to know the full list and the reviews of each

  2. It’s interesting how tastes differ! Dad’s sunset is a bottom tier tomato for me… smooth yes but without either acidic tang, sweetness, or complexity.

Try not to buy from Baker Creek / rareseeds.com. They have a history of platforming racists at their events and brushing it off when called out. Plenty of other seed companies sell great heirlooms without cozying up to hate — they don’t deserve your money.

Johnny’s Select Seeds, High Mowing, Seed Savers Exchange, FedCo, Southern Exposure Seed Exchange, and even a botanical interests are so much better.

Fun!! We’ve been doing this at work as our tomatoes mature and so far the favourite has been Malachite Box, but I’m partial to Cosmonaut Volkov 🍅

You ought to try Apricot Zebra from Baker Creek. One of the best tasting tomatoes I’ve ever gotten from them.

Ha, I guessed that that would be the favourite. Have never tried them, but they look amazing!

Not a fan of the name, though XD

This feels like a biotech office thing lol. I’m definitely gonna steal this idea haha

I love this! I did the same thing earlier this summer – 15 varieties, winners were the sweeter versions (Kellog’s Breakfast & Aunt Ruby German Green). What I learned was that people prefer lighter, more citrus-y tomatoes when eating raw, but darker, bolder tomatoes (Cherokee Purple, Paul Robeson) on BLTs. But that could just be my non-tomato-obsessed friends.

Would love for this tasting trend to catch on! 🙂 Such good intel.

This is too cool! My boring ass coworkers could never haha! Not even my gardening club would do something this cool.

I would have loved to have been there for that.
