At a baseball game this makes perfect sense. You are lucky to have a drink holder most of the time. The straw goes through a small hole so the food can’t get in.

1. Grease from the sandwiches will pool at the boot of cup. This prevents the buns from getting soggy 2. Cup feature makes for convenient one handed operation
On the other hand, there is a straw in the cup. meaning there is drink under the sandwiches will be immediately contaminated by the grease. Also, the sandwiches may fall into the drink as they are removed
