We had horse tartare in Iceland. I would have assumed it was bison or some kind of game had we not been told it was horse.

Add some rice and you’ve got yourself some good Neighgiri right there. I’ll see myself out.

I tried it at a random izakaya one night in Kyoto several years ago. I’m an adventurous eater and gave it a shot because I really enjoy beef carpaccio. It was 900¥ for the 桜肉 – Sakura Meat. I remember it being not gamey and tender but kind of meh. If it was presented to me again I’d eat it, but don’t know if I would order it again.
I’m shocked at all the people surprised at this 🤣 when I was in japan horse was more popular than beef there. It was everywhere, raw horse food stands all over the streets

Looks great, I had horse and mane in Japan. The horse was great, lean and not gamey. The mane? Horrible lol

Had this in Tsurumi years ago. Its different but good
Thoughts on it?

Could you… um… expound?
Goddammit. I’ve heard it’s so good, and I skipped it last time I was there.
Hmm looks a bit unstable

“Eat the horse raw.
Eat it where it is.”
