Celebrating this little milestone with Ernest Rapeneau, the $10 half-bottle of Champagne from Trader Joe’s. And of course, splurging on the chicken sandwich 🙂

The mousse is not very fine and isn’t very persistent. The colour is surprisingly deep though and I wonder how much Pinot was used in the blend.

The wine smells of distant cracker and flint but mostly of raw dough and yellow apple. A hint of quince.

On the palate, the mousse isn’t very opulent. The acidity is medium and the wine feels round because of that, even though it is not full-bodied at all. Tastes of lemon rind, melon, and deep-fryer breading.

    Medium- finish.

7/18. It’s a $10 bottle of Champagne (half), so it’s really just whatever. But it does shine with food and at this price that’s just great 🙂

So yes, this isn’t my first time trying it. It’s a great quick pickup and pairs wonderfully with fast food. The pairing with In-n-Out maybe was even better! Oh, and of course, the original CFA sandwich would pair better with the Champagne but it’s hard to resist ordering the spicy one

I just had this champagne from TJ’s last week! Fairly decent considering the price.
