    Yea I did the same thing on a chimney before, it had a nice crust but it was black and blue but not burnt yet. The heat is too intense to cook a thick steak the outside is done way too fast unless you’re doing a reverse sear. If you’re trying to cook just using a chimney the whole way it’ll work for a half inch thick steak.
