INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Holy Rosary Catholic Church is hosting its annual Italian Street Festival on June 13 and 14 in Indianapolis. The free, family-friendly event will take place at Holy Rosary Church and Lacy Park, offering a taste of authentic Italian culture.
The Italian Street Festival will feature over 25 food booths serving Italian meats, pastas, salads, and desserts, providing attendees with a variety of authentic Italian cuisine. Live entertainment will include performances from popular Indianapolis bands and classic Italian music favorites, adding to the festive atmosphere.
“We make our own red sauce team out of 100 to 125 buckets, five-gallon buckets of red sauce,” Lisa said, who is responsible for managing the kitchens at the festival. “It takes us three days to make it.”
Cultural experiences such as bocce demonstrations and a religious procession with the Indianapolis Opera will showcase Italian traditions. The festival transforms the historic Holy Rosary Church and surrounding Lacy Park into a bustling Italian piazza, creating a vibrant atmosphere for all ages.
Family-friendly activities include interactive inflatables for kids and teens, ensuring fun for the whole family. Displays of Italian-made Ducati bikes and Vespa scooters will be featured, adding an element of Italian craftsmanship to the event.
Free parking will be available in the Eli Lilly lots on East and New Jersey Streets, making it convenient for attendees to visit the festival. The event offers a chance to experience the rich traditions of the Indianapolis Italian-American community, celebrating its cultural heritage.
