The owners of a beloved Mexican restaurant in Hoover delivered some bittersweet news to patrons on Sunday: in a week, Moss Rock Tacos & Tequila will close to make way for an Italian gelateria and café in October.
“Moss Rock Tacos & Tequila will serve its last taco on Sunday, August 31st. THANK YOU for 7 unforgettable years — your love and support mean the world to us,” Benard and Brianna Tamburello of Vecchia Pizzeria & Mercato posted Sunday afternoon on Facebook.
“We want to thank you guys truly from the bottom of our heart for supporting us as Moss Rock Tacos and Tequila for so many years,” Brianna Tamburello said in a video alongside her husband. “It was a journey. It was a blessing, and our final day will be Sunday, Aug. 31.”
Benard Tamburello said the space on Preserve Parkway in Hoover will become Vecchia Gelato and Café.
The Italian spot will serve gelato, Italian coffees, Italian pastries, porchetta “and, of course, Italian street food.”
“The sandwiches are gonna be amazing,” Bernard Tamburello promised.
“Just hang in there with us, give us till about the mid of October and you’ll see our wonderful passion at work,” he said. “The journey through Italy is gonna become reality for us.”
