This is my favorite place to get a turkey sandwich

Eh. Better in concept than execution. A bit overrated in my opinion.

At 2am this shit hits like a god damn Michelin star restaurant.

I have no idea why people choose to eat there.

Primanti’s, to me at least, is a very good idea that suffers from poor execution. The proteins are always flavorful, and the Polish slaw adds nice acidity. Where the sandwiches fall down for me are in the fries and in the bread. The fries, in my experience, are always soggy and underseasoned, and the bread would be better if they buttered and griddled it on the side that comes into contact with the fillings.

Having gone to college in Pittsburgh and lived there for a time afterward, I’ve had my share of Primanti’s (both drunk and sober), so it occupies a special place in my heart and memory. I just have never been able to escape the conclusion that a few pretty simple improvements could make their sandwiches really special.

Here we go again with this controversial subject.

3 people say they’re good and 3 people say they’re bad, and everyone thinks they’re right.

Everything is a pickle, you either like pickles or you don’t. And no one is incorrect or correct for liking or disliking pickles.

If you don’t like it you simply don’t like this kind of sandwich and vice versa.

A mess to eat but I love them. Roast beef add onion for me.

My family is from Pittsburgh so we always stop by the first location for a sandwich and an iron city. It’s a nostalgia thing for me. The chain locations don’t do it justice.

  10. Overrated, if you’re in Pittsburgh Fat Heads is the better choice.

Was it dry? It kinda looks like it is.

    It still looks delicious.

  12. I’ve never understood the hype around putting fries on a sandwich.

I thought they were tasty and very satisfying sandwiches, something you can tell was meant to affordably feed hungry locals back in the day but now there are hoards of tourists expecting something spectacular when it was never meant to be food you wait 40 minutes in line for

Fries are a side, not a sandwich topping.

For what it is… it’s special to its origins and is dated but a cool experience if you haven’t had one. Trying a outskirts county Primanti from Pittsburgh taught me this was a favorite restaurant for the region for lunch, but at its core it’s glorified corner store sandwiches with higher than needed expectations for a Ruben/rachel that has incorporatified itself. It’s

They set a standard that is hard to beat

Currently eating the Don ATM and it’s delicious

  18. To me way too dryyyyy! A sauce would take it to a different level

  19. Bassturd-man

I went there once and never went back if that says anything

The ratios and lack of small details are making me irrationally angry over a sandwich I’ll never eat

  21. JMPSr1984

Tried it once years ago while visiting my wifes family. Would not go back.

  22. First_Strain7065

Had a samich’ here 30 years ago and I was drunk but I remember it well.

Just put the fries on the side. Fries piled up on a sandwich aren’t enhancing it, it’s just making it harder to eat.

  24. retrospct

They used to have a similar sandwich in SF. I miss that place. I’m pretty sure it was based off these guys.

  25. reforminded

One of the worst sandwiches I’ve had. Cheap, low quality ingredients, poorly executed.

  26. Interesting-Ruin-743

This was the most disappointing thing I’ve ever eaten in my life. Lots of hype, I was passing through Pittsburgh and excited about it, and it was just average at best would never go there again.

  27. pablothenice

How do you even eat that? Its more work than it should be.
