A new study out of Spain offers some of the strongest evidence that lifestyle interventions can meaningfully prevent Type 2 diabetes.

Researchers followed nearly 5,000 adults at high risk for diabetes over six years and found that those who combined the Mediterranean diet with calorie reduction and regular exercise were 31% less likely to develop diabetes compared with those who only followed the diet.

This study has immediate relevance for millions of Americans with metabolic risk factors as Type 2 diabetes continues to rise nationally.
