This is the first cake I’ve ever decorated, so please go easy on me. I know it’s not perfect, but I’m really excited to share it. I’m hitting the big 30 tomorrow and I’ve been wanting to make a “ holographic party pug” cake for my party. My party is Saturday so I spent my last day of my 20s practicing what I spent most of those years watching on TV.

Saturday’s version will be more level, I will double the icing recipe so I don’t run out on the back, and it will feature another party pug modeled after my dearly departed fawn, Vern. This version features a white chocolate party pug modeled after my sweet babe, Marley. (Pic in comments). Although it was only a trial, this cake will not be wasted. It will be going to the ICU tomorrow to cheer up my MIL and the nurses that are taking such great care of her. I found the balloon cake toppers at 5 below for only $1 each, and they’re a great alternative when candles aren’t an option.

The chocolate icing is my late grandmother’s secret recipe and it’s the first time I’ve attempted it since her passing in 2014. She forgot to add the box of confectionery sugar when she wrote it down. 😂 Luckily, I remembered watching her make it and was able to adjust. I think the error actually made it all the sweeter.

Thanks for viewing 🙂

Omg this is the sweetest cake ever, and every detail you added in your description made it all the more special. I will admit, I was hoping you would say you sculpted the little puggy out of clay, only because it’s so darn CUTE that I want it to stay forever! If you haven’t, you definitely should sculpt some little clay pugs, you’re so good at it! I’m sorry to hear of the loss of your dear pup Vern, and I hope your mum-in-law is doing alright and recovering well. Oh, and also… HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
