Just bought the BGE pizza wedges and I’m having trouble getting them so sit correctly. Anyone have similar issues? Any pointers to correct it?

Based on the video that BGE has on their YouTube channel it looks like you have put the wedge on the wrong sides. Try to switch the side they are on as their video shows the lip needs to be upwards.

The metal tabs should sit down inside the rim of the egg, they are propped up on your grate by the looks of it.

The bottoms of the wedges should be sitting flush on your gasket

I don’t know… but these are a newer accessory and they were probably designed for eggs with the newer bands. Again, I don’t know, but I’m sure the newer bands creat different angles/pivot points.

Honestly I think most people here would agree that these really don’t add much value to cooking pizza. I got the wedges as a gift and found I make same or better pizza without them. It is nice to easily get to the pizza, but I use the eggspander too so I can cook two at a time and you can’t get to the second one with this setup. Without opening the lid anyways.

It looks like you have only a bottom gasket on that thing – both top and bottom gaskets ARE critical to getting the BGE to perform correctly and components like the wedge to fit correctly, no matter what anyone here may say about “raw doggin’ it” and it looks like you may have an “underbite” situation with the dome/hinge itself.

Put the BGE gaskets on it, top and bottom – not the don whatever the fuck his name is fiberglass single gasket – and close the lid & loosen the nuts on the hinge until you can position the lid perfectly correctly fore & aft so there is no over/under bite.

If you have an old hinge (looks like you do) you may need a new hinge altogether. It will be setup much closer to correct to begin with and will give you the ability to better adjust it as needed.

BGEs are precision cooking instruments, and they need regular maintenance.

    * I refurbish and tune BGEs and other kamado grills as a side hustle.

based on the images it looks like your gaskets are almost flat if not flatter than flat.

Maybe see if you can upgrade/change it into the newer glass fiber gaskets?

Like a comment below it looks like the front tab of your wedge isn’t resting on the inside lip causing it to be too high. I just got these the other weekend and also made the mistake of them not touching in the back of the egg which will then in turn make your opening smaller than a 14” pizza peel.

Another observation to share for those looking to get these. Absolutely have an exit plan for the wedges when you are done and looking to close the egg down. They will be scorching hot and even with heavy duty heat gloves I had to move quick. I put them on my propane grill grate to cool overnight before storing.

Overall my wife and I love these and if you’re making pizza on the egg a must have in our opinion!
