Not everyone is a sharp in the drawer
I used to have a guy who would go to the cooler to restock his station during changeover and inevitably would be like “I can’t find ‘X ingredient‘. I’d inevitably have to go to the fridge myself and pull the not missing stock for him. Pretty much every time he worked this would occur. His eyes simply couldn’t see things.
Now I work on my own every day and it is absolutely blissful.
You sure sound like a super chill and cool guy to learn from. What is obvious to you with years of experience may not be for others. You already have built in habits, memory and muscle memory for the job. Now I get it is frustrating and that food buisness is often very busy. But try to be a little bit more compassionate, just a little.
It’s not just in restaurants. I’m in white collar work now and I explain to my boss every other week how to use the same fairly simple excel formula.
It’s like when people are learning shelf life for different items.
New Guy: how long are tomatoes good for?
Me: did you check the chart?
NG: oh yeah
Five minutes later…
NG: how long are green peppers good for?
Me: the chart
God I love how cats just act tuff af, both are so tuff lol fricken adorable.
I’ve had coworkers that have been there for a year and a half and they still ask me how to do things/where things are.
When the boss, who put you in charge of training them, catches them doing it wrong and they go “no one ever taught me.”
Maybe you’re just bad at explaining things?
We had 2 sandwiches, a Ruben and a crab and cheddar. We had 2 cheeses Swiss and cheddar. Trainingba cook and he asked me which cheese goes on the crab and cheddar ?🤯
