First time trying this tin although I have seen others post about it and I've had many different Jose Gourmet products and have never been disappointed. Really a nice sauce, very good strong curry flavor in a creamy sauce with a bit of a spicy kick to it. The makerel was good although there could have been more fish and a bit less sauce and it wouldn't have hurt anything. I made a Bahn mi sandwich with some tomato, onion, avocado and cilantro and drowned it in the sauce and used what was left to dunk the sandwich in. Really a top tier tin that I will be enjoying again! I think a cheaper tin of maybe King Oscar makerel could be drowned in this sauce as well and you could make a couple nice sandwiches with it.

It’s great over rice. There’s also a trout version although I think they may only be selling that on the ABC+ label now (same sauce).

And you’re right, you could probably just get a nice curry sauce and dump it on a cheaper product. Probably something I should look into given that it’s pretty pricey.

If I could find these I would subsist solely off them.

I’d love to see some folks here who’ve got vacuum sealers handy experiment with packing some ordinary plain sardines or mackerel with good curry sauces. I’m in the midst of doing such mad scientist work with some jarred brava sauce from Espinaler. I really love the small sardines in brava sauce from ABC+, but that tin is $20 or more. There’s got to be a cheaper way to deliciousness!

  4. This is maybe my favorite tin. Over cheap ramen noodles, the 3 minute kind, no broth. $13 tin over thirty cents of noodles. Amazing.

I just had a can. The curry sauce is fantastic.

These are my absolute favorite. The price is unfortunately what you might pay in an Indian restaurant for a fresh cooked meal but I kind of don’t care, it’s still delicious and good for curry on the go. Great with rice.

I want them to sell me jars of just this sauce so i can drink it. It is so delicious!

Edited to add: I bring cans of this camping and pair with some flatbread and a can of white wine.

It is the most bougie-feeling camping meal ever!
