½ cup water

Instructions:
1. Prepare the Syrup:

Add lemon juice and let it simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
Remove from heat and add rose water. Set aside to cool.
2. Make the Basbousa Batter:
In a bowl, mix semolina, sugar, baking powder, and coconut.
Add yogurt, melted butter, and vanilla. Mix well into a thick batter.
3. Bake the Basbousa:
Grease a baking pan and pour the batter evenly.
Score into square or diamond shapes and place an almond in the center of each piece.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
4. Add the Syrup:
Once out of the oven, pour the cooled syrup over the hot Basbousa.
