The can had some oil on it too but it looks like the can is still fully intact. Thoughts?

Could be from a different can, yo. Give this one a firm squeeze and see if it leaks.

Submerge the can in water and see if anything bubbles out

Paper is cheap, so get a new piece and rewrap it. Flip it after a day in case the possible leak isn’t where If you think it is. If see new signs of leakage, toss the can.

Submerge in water and after a few seconds sswyuze and see if air bubbles or oil comes out etc.

Or wrap it in paper towel and leave it upside down or tilted. And see if itkeaks nor if you smell anything

I mean if it’s one of the cans that’s a dollar and twenty five cents I might just toss it. But the other users make good points about going the extra mile to figure it out if so inclined.

Yes, if the can is intact there is no problem. The oil is probably spillover from the canning process, shit’s messy and sometimes things slip by quality control.
