Perhaps I got the memo late, but I didn’t see an inkling of warning that Lubbock’s The Co-Op Public House (4637 50th St Suite #300)  was going to close its doors permanently.

Apparently, the restaurant called in quits earlier this month. The Facebook page is gone, and it is listed as permanently closed on Google.

Why Did The Co-Op Public House Close?

According to a comment made by Chris Chisholm in a local Lubbock foodie group, this is the reason the restaurant closed:

We have other businesses we are focused on and will be doing a rebranding and relaunch at a later date with a new concept.

So while The Co-Op Public House may be no more, the same people may open a new concept in the same location. That was the extent of the details I was able to find at this time (and I’m a pretty decent detective).

As for Google reviews, they are lopsided, with some folks raving about how good it was and others disappointed by snags in service. Texas Monthly liked it when they visited, and they are notoriously serious about food.
