Famed Milanese institution Sant Ambroeus lands on the West Coast for the first time next year. The celebrity-favorite Italian restaurant will open in Beverly Hills in 2026 on the corner of Beverly Drive and Dayton Way, just a block from Rodeo Drive.
The first Sant Ambroeus, named after Milan’s patron saint, opened in 1936 as an all-day cafe and patisserie. In 1982, the restaurant crossed the Atlantic to open its first stateside location on the Upper East Side in New York. Over the last 40 years, Sant Ambroeus has expanded to locations across New York, opening in the West Village and the Hamptons. The restaurant is notorious for its high-profile clientele — the late André Leon Talley would famously bring a Sant Ambroeus marzipan when invited to visit friends. Sant Ambroeus has expanded beyond its European roots and New York, opening in Aspen and Palm Beach, with a forthcoming location in Texas.
Sant Ambroeus’s Beverly Hills location will be its West Coast flagship and largest location. The standalone building will feature an expansive indoor dining room, patio, two bars, a private dining room, and a separate coffee bar for espresso and pastries. The menu will feature Milanese classics from other locations, including vitello tonnato, pastas made in-house, and cacio e pepe, most of which will use a bounty of California produce. Cocktails and a wine list featuring bottles from California and Italy will be on hand.
When it opens, Sant Ambroeus will join a fleet of other New York Italian restaurants that have expanded to the West Coast recently, including Alba and Cipriani.
