SPRINGFIELD — Every Sunday, Italian families across the South End would gather around platters of pasta, plates of pork and finish it off with a glass of grappa in a tradition that combined “family, food and faith.”

Now, fewer follow the tradition but people will be forever reminded of it by a mural unveiled Thursday at the Italian Cultural Center.
