Hard to tell, but some appear to have cannibalism of their antennae which can indicate long time in tanks. Liveliness would be the final test. Look pretty healthy to me. Seen much worse antennae so I don’t think these have been tanked really long. But, may play a role in the price they were able to get. Quick sale kind of deal, perhaps. Asian Markets are very well connected at the wholesale level and are opportunistic buyers in many cases. Savvy buyers.

Do it! Grab em first and go for ones that fight. The freshest lobsters usually slap their tail like crazy.
That’s a great price and I’d go for it unless they basically couldn’t move at all or if there’s a stink. A single dead lobster can spoil the whole tank if it sits for a few hours in my experience.

Is $8.99# for that one guy without claws? /jk
Remember eating all these one-clawed lobsters in Chinatown restaurants; Didn’t know it was a thing – always wondered why the two lobster dish only had 2 claws.

I would jump on that so hard. I just paid $32.99/lb for a massive lobster tail. It was fantastic, but I’d eat lobster once a week at $8.99/lb.
