I made some dark chocolate and pecan cookies to take to a work function, but they turned out really dry and crumbly. It was a new recipe so I thought the recipe was just bad, until the next day when I opened the microwave and found the butter I’d put in to soften still sitting there. Doh! I didn’t want to throw them out because it was like $20 of chocolate and pecans, so I let them dry out for a few days and then pulverized them in the food processor and used them as the crust for a New York cheesecake. It turned out really good! I’ll put the recipe in comments

[cookie recipe](https://butternutbakeryblog.com/butter-pecan-chocolate-chip-cookies/) I used.
Pulverized and mixed with 1/2 c butter. Pressed into greased springform pan.
Cheesecake
32oz cream cheese
4 eggs + 1 yolk
1 c sugar
3 T cornstarch
2 t vanilla
1 c sour cream
Slowly hand mixed cream cheese, sugar, and corn starch. Whisked eggs and vanilla together and slowly added. Gently folded in sour cream.
Pour over crust. Bake at 310 for 1 hour and 45 minutes (in a water bath). Turn off oven and let sit for another hour in oven. Cool overnight in fridge.
Strawberry sauce
Cut up one container of strawberries
1/2 c sugar
1 T cornstarch
1 oz Gran Marnier liquor
1/2 lemon squeezed
Cook in a sauce pan until thickened

This looks great!!
What a brilliant pivot!
I do the same thing with baking fails. I usually use the fail as a base for bar cookies. This looks delicious.
