There are a wide range of restaurants in Val d’Isere to suit all tastes and budgets. Read our guide on all the best places to eat and where to find your favourite style of cuisine.
Worth noting is that at lunchtime most restaurants will offer a well-priced ‘Plat du Jour’ (dish of the day), normally consisting of locally-sourced meat, potatoes and a salad or seasonal vegetables.
In France it’s very normal to bring children to restaurants, even later in the evening at smart venues. French children often eat the same food as adults, so a dedicated children’s menu isn’t always necessary. In family resorts like Val d’Isère most restaurants are happy to accommodate children, and if there isn’t a specific menu, just ask for smaller portions. Traditional alpine dishes are mild and fun, with children often enjoying dipping bread into fondue or grilling meat on a pierrade.
