Today I was replacing the felt gasket on my egg and discovered two small hairline cracks. Looking online, they keep talking about hairline cracks or “crazing” on the glaze on the exterior. No cracking on the exterior, I only see these hairline cracks on the edge where the felt is placed. Are these cracks of any concern? I am not the original owner so I cannot do any warranty work. Thanks for any responses! Mike

Yes, mine is about 12 years old and seeing that too. The firebox and ring have already broken. To quote the poet W.H. Auden, “The end of the world begins with a crack in a teacup.”
Worried, no. Eventually you’ll have enough little cracks from years of use you can get a new one and add new bands. My first one lasted 10 years and almost every piece had a crack. Just the effects of ceramic and water and fluctuating temps. YMMV I used mine a lot in snowy winters etc
