Dinner from Dollar Tree tonight – and this one comes from a dietician! @nutritionbykylie shared a balanced Dollar Tree dinner idea, and I had to try it.
Here’s what I grabbed:
Rotini pasta – $1.25
Pesto – $1.25
Roasted red peppers – $1.25
Chickpeas – $1.25
Canned corn – $1.25
Garlic – $1.25 (but the peppers actually came with garlic inside, so this wasn’t needed)
Parmesan cheese – $1.25
Total: $8 (or $6.75 without the garlic)
Instructions:
Boil half the box of pasta in salted water. While that cooks, mince the garlic and sauté with chickpeas, corn, and chopped roasted red peppers. Season with salt and pepper. Add cooked pasta, half the jar of pesto, and a splash of pasta water to create a sauce. Toss well and top with Parmesan before serving.
This was so good, and the pesto is honestly worth picking up next time you’re at Dollar Tree!

Let’s make dinner from Dollar Tree. Today’s recipe actually comes from a dietician. Nutrition by Kylie shared a balanced Dollar Tree dinner idea. So, I picked up everything she used. A box of pasta, a jar of pesto, red bell peppers, a can of corn, a can of chickpeas, minced garlic, and parmesan. My total came out to $8 even, but when I got home, I noticed the red peppers came with a garlic clove inside. So, technically, this could have been 6.75. I started by boiling half a box of rotini in salted water. While that cooks, I’m finally mincing our bonus garlic clove and sautéing it with the chickpeas, corn, and red peppers. Just season to taste with salt and pepper. Once the pasta is done, I’m adding it straight to the pan along with about half the jar of pesto and some pasta water to make a sauce. Toss everything to coat, then finish it with a sprinkle of parmesan on top. This was honestly such a unique idea. I never would have thought of this combination on my own, but it turned out so good. And that pesto from Dollar Tree, I really recommend it. But here’s what really excites me. I have been wanting a dietician to enter the chat for a long time. Not just a few dietitian approved snacks, but actual full meals, complete grocery trips, and tips on making more nutritious choices at dollar stores. Kylie nailed that, and I really hope she keeps going.

You should try boxed Macaroni + cheese with shredded rotisserie chicken and gochujang 😬 Gochujang can be harder to find, but it’s a cheap recipe and tastes so good. Add butter and/or honey to taste
Frzon foods from here isn't good you be in the bathroom after you eat them 💩💩💩 that Pasta 🤢🤢🤮🤮
One of the few "Dollar Tree" cheap meals I've seen on YouTube that is actually a healthy meal!
Ma'am. Pesto is already cheap, nutritious food. 🤌🏻
Basil leaves, lemon juice, garlic, pine nuts, olive oil. Toss it in cooked pasta. No pasta water required. The pecorino romano is optional if you cannot eat dairy. Grow your own basil plants and it will be even cheaper.
Immitation parmigiano has no place in pesto.
You do not need a nutritionist to revamp an already healthy traditional recipe. 🤌🏻😒
Roasted red peppers are one of my favorite things to use. So versatile.
I love Kylie! Only cookbook I’ve ever purchased
Healthy meal can be cheap easy and delicious
I'd make this as a side dish and serve with chicken. Thanks for sharing.
I love Kylie! I'm glad she joined in the mix.
While this looks interesting, im not sure if ur aware of whats happening in dollar tree stores across the country right now. Alot of the things u post are not available in ALOT of stores nationwide. And the stores where im from have raised their prices. Like the stuff theyre selling isnt worth it. Ive quit shopping there and most of my friends have too. You can seriously get better deals at walmart rather than going there and spending 1.25 OR MORE on canned and dry goods. I mean no disrespect. Im just saying its not worth it to shop at dollar tree anymore. 😊
Rebecca keep doing what your doing. The cost of making a meal at home has increased because of energy prices.
I got these ingredients too to do the same thing from the Dollartree off her website and bought her book on Amazon as well. Absolutely love her page.
This looks great! Im totally gonna try this! My husband doesnt care for plain noodles and marinara sauce. (I grew up on that so I was ok with that meal but he grew up having more money than my family ❤) so this recipe will be interesting to make and see if he likes it..😊
Why would the garlic clove make the meal $6.75?
There is nothing nutritious about any of it,read the labels
Please hold the Parmesan 😬
Looks watery
I’m. Dietitian I’d love to collaborate reach out!

Who is this nutrition by Kiley
Can you make a dinner without pasta I'm really tired of these videos always adding pasta and rice from dollar tree
I made this tonight. It is insanely good! I do not care for firm (hard) chicken peas and found you can soak them with or without baking soda. One poster recommended that Goya brand is actually softer and that is what my dollar tree had! However, they did not have the peppers so I paid $2.59 for a small jar from Piggly Wiggly, no bonus garlic. Next time I see them at DT, I am going to pick up a few. They really add a lot to the meal. Thank you for a great recipe.
Kylie is amazing! Been following her for a couple of years now. This looks amazing, so versatile and affordable!
That looks very filling. Thank you!!!
Well that’s real attractive.. the thumb thing,
The basil pesto is PHENOMINAL! 🎉
I made this recipe using basil (homemade pesto sauce) that I am growing in my garden. Everything else was already in my pantry. It turned out delicious.
You two are my top fave food channels on YouTube, so this video makes me ridiculously happy!
Looks amazing! 8.00???? Fantastic!
