I’ve been roasting coffee and pulling shots at home for over a year now, but latte art still escapes me. Instead, I’ve mastered the fine craft of… blob art. Every cup gets a nice little blob of milk on top. Anyone else an expert in blob art?

I couldn’t care less about latte art. Making coffee already has too many steps

  2. I was taught to make a dot as a first shape… It’s been over ten years and I’m lucky to make anything that even remotely resembles one lol.

Honestly, if I were in a cafe I’d rather be served a good blob shot than poorly done latte art with messed up milk texture. Looks great!

  4. my gues is that you inject too much air. perfect for blob, not good for latte art.

I couldn’t care less about the art stuff. What you’ve produced there looks awesome and I’d be happy to be served that in a cafe.

I’m more of an abstract blob art master myself.

  7. This so called blob art was called a monk’s head pattern back then. So you actually mastered one latte art pattern already!

You’re a few steps ahead of me. The best I can get is a rather ugly looking “WTF” is that strip of foam on top.

I’m a blob pro. Don’t give a rats ass what it looks like… it’s gone in 10 minutes max.

Use the pointy end of a teaspoon, dip it in the Crema that remains, draw a smiley face. I couldnt do latte art when I worked in a cafe so this was my solution.

  13. Absolutely beautiful. Simplicity can be better than artistic merit. Well the art is clearly in the creation.

I feel I mastered this day one, but 8 months later and I’m still trying to improve. I’m working on 3-dimensional blobs right now.
