Shrewsbury, MASS– Final preparations are taking place as another year of mediterranean festivities returns tonight to Shrewsbury.  The three-day festival, hosted by St. Mary’s Syriac Orthodox Church, highlights Mediterranean culture and heritage. The event includes live music, dancing, family activities and a long line up of homemade food like kabobs, baklava, and fried dough. Organizers said the festival reaches more people every year.

“We actually have people attending all the way from Rhode Island, our other sister churches, Boston, Methuen and other places,” organizer Henry Bahnan said. “So, it is very, very important to be a part of this big community”

“Very thankful for the joy and big opportunity to gather with each other and spend a nice time,” Rev. Fr. Toni Kasih said.

The festival stats today at 5pm and runs through Sunday.
