[Music] What’s going on everybody? Welcome back to Cooking Time. Today we have the all American corn dog. That is right, super simple. Here’s the list of ingredients. Pause it if you have to. Super simple. I’m telling you, this is an amazing dish. My kids love it. Super simple and delicious. Are you guys ready? Cuz I know I am. Let’s go. All right. First things first, get you a frying pan and fill that with some oil. Go ahead and heat it up to 350°. Now, to a pan, go ahead and add you in one box 8 oz package of Jiffy cornbread mix. That’s right, taking it super simple. Now, we’re going to come in and add 1/4 cup of sugar. We’re going to follow that up with 1/4 tbsp of salt. Follow that up with 1 tbsp of brown sugar. We’re going to add in a little bit of oil. That’s a tablespoon. Then we’re going to come in with 1/4 tablespoon of vanilla extract. And then you’re going to crack in one farm fresh egg. Thank you, Red, for letting me get one of these from the ladies. Then we’re going to come in and add in 1 and 34 cups of buttermilk. Go ahead, give this all a mix. By the way, you’re wondering, where’s the honey? That’s right. We scrapped the honey for this flavor and instead I add some vanilla extract. I think it just gives it a unique twist to it that the kids seem to love. Keep mixing this in till you get a good consistency. I mean, you’re gonna have to mix it. It’s too watery right now, but that’s all right. Let it sit for about 15 minutes. Once it’s been sitting for 15 minutes, you’re going to see it’s slowly thickening up. Just keep stirring it. And it’s still going to look a little runny, but that’s all right cuz we’re not done. We are going to go ahead and add in another 1 to 2 tablespoon of flour and slowly mix that in. That’s right. Don’t put it all in at once as you see me doing here. We’re going to slowly add it in. By slowly mixing in more flour to the cornmeal, what that’s going to do is give a smoother texture. So, it’s not going to be bumpy and it’s just going to make that corn dog that fair style corn dog that everybody has come to enjoy. But right here, see that? That’s the consistency you’re looking for. All right. Now, guys, you’re going to take this mixture and add it into a tall glass. Thank you to Burkel Cerako for these glasses. They are the absolute best corn dog making cups in the world. Just keep pouring it in. Do not waste any of this mixture. That’s right. You’re going to need every single ounce of this batter. That’s right. Just pour it in there nice and slow. Take your time. It’s not a race, guys. This is a super simple recipe. Even the kids could do it. All right. Now, you’re going to get some toothpicks or some skewers. Go ahead and stick them into your hot dogs. Why does one hot dog look different than the other? That’s because right here I’m using all American beef hot dogs. And then the other ones in the corner, those are some smoked sausages. What you’re going to do is just roll them around in the flour. Place them into a plate. Why do we roll them in flour? Because what that is going to do is allow the batter to stick to our corn dogs. There ain’t nothing worse than getting a corn dog, taking a bite, and it just falls apart. So guys, go ahead and do this process. Very important. There’s the smoked sausages. Yeah, that’s right. These are creamy cheddar jalapeno hot dogs. Oh my god, they are so good. I just figured I would do a twist. See how it came out. And they came out great. So, you could do this for breakfast sausages. You could do this for anything. And you can get a you can actually jazz it up. Throw some blueberries into the batter and get you a breakfast sausage and do this and it makes the wonderful breakfast corn dog as well. Sorry, getting ahead. Wasting too much time. All right, go ahead. As you can see right here, dip it into that batter slow. Take your time. Get it in there. You’re going to have to just move it around cuz as you if you pull it out too quick, it’s going to not stick to the corn dog. So, go slow. Get all that batter in there and slowly dip it into your oil. That’s right. Spin it around. Move it back and forth. You want the bottom of the corn dog to cook before you drop it into the oil. Otherwise, it’s just going to sit at the bottom. Wiggle that pot to allow the corn dog to release from the bottom and float to the top. Once again, get your corn dog in. Dip it slowly. Pull it out. You might have to dip it a couple of times to make sure it’s completely coated. There you go. Look at that. Look at that. Beautiful. That is beautiful. Then what you’re going to do is go ahead and add that to the oil. Take your time. Just get it in there. Slowly spin it. Get the bottom of the corn dog cooking. Then drop it in there. That’s right. And give the oil a shake. That’s right. That’s going to release the corn dog from the bottom and allow it to cook perfectly. Now, once these have been cooking for roughly 30 to 60 seconds, go ahead and give them a rotate periodically. That’s right. Rotate them over so they cook evenly. All right. With the magic of time, these are done. What you’re going to do is go ahead and take your a pair of tongs, drain the oil, and then you’re going to place them off onto a baking sheet to let them go ahead and air out. And that’s going to give it the crispiness that we’ve come to love and enjoy. That’s right. Right now, they’re kind of soft, but once they air dry on the air rack, it’s going to be amazing, guys. Going to be amazing. All right, repeat the process. Dip the corn dog in. Get that all covered up. Go ahead, slowly put it in the oil and then drop it in. Shake it. That’s right. You know how to do it. Just, as you can see right here, just have fun with it. Many variations. No right or wrong way. This is the easiest way that I found to do corn dogs. And my kids love it, guys. Look at that. I’ve done three to a pan. That’s right. I’m getting quick. Getting quick. I recommend doing two. It makes it a little easier to manage, but you can do up to three in a pot if you want. Just get them in there. Make sure they cook evenly. Guys, let me know in the comments below, guys, if you’ve ever had a corn dog. That’s right. Corn dogs are amazing. They are the best state fair food you can ever get in your life. Take a look at that. Put them on a plate. Get some mustard. Wa! As you can see, they don’t last long. You can use ketchup, mustard, anything, guys. Yeah, I’m going to take mine before they’re all gone.
