Wine, Women, & Shoes to host second annual philanthropy event in Elizabethtown

BLAKELY AND SHAQ. AND GOOD MORNING TO YOU. I’M SHAQUILLE LORD. TODAY I’M JOINED BY MARY BETH AND KATHY, TWO VERY SPECIAL GUESTS THIS MORNING. THEY’RE HERE TO TALK ABOUT A FEW THINGS. ALL RIGHT, MARY BETH, I’M GOING TO GET STARTED WITH YOU. YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT WINE, WOMEN AND SHOES TAKING PLACE IN ELIZABETHTOWN. YES. SO ON SEPTEMBER 26TH, WE WILL BE HAVING OUR SECOND ANNUAL WINE, WOMEN AND SHOES IN ELIZABETHTOWN. OUR FIRST YEAR WAS A HUGE SUCCESS. WE RAISED OVER $210,000, WHICH DIRECTLY BENEFITED THE PROGRAMS THAT WE OFFER AT OUR ECTC EXPANSION OFFICE FOR RIGHT NOW, WHICH IS QUICKLY GOING TO TURN INTO OUR NEXT FAMILY SCHOLAR HOUSE DEVELOPMENT AT THE ECTC CAMPUS. YEAH, OF COURSE I DO WANT TO PLUG THIS IN OUR VERY OWN VICKI DORTCH. SHE DOES SERVE AS THE EMCEE FOR WINE WOMEN. SHE’S ALL RIGHT. SHE’S AMAZING. SHE IS. SHE’S AMAZING. TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE EXPANSION TAKING PLACE OVER THERE. SO THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS EVENT IS THAT IT FUNDS OUR EXPANSION. SO NOT ONLY ARE WE ALREADY PROVIDING SERVICES AT ECTC, BUT WE ARE BUILDING 48 APARTMENTS. WE’VE JUST CLOSED ON EVERYTHING RELATED TO THAT. READY TO PUT A SHOVEL OR A BACKHOE IN THE GROUND TO GET THAT STARTED. AND WE’LL BE MOVING STUDENT PARENT FAMILIES IN THIS TIME NEXT YEAR SO THAT THEY CAN HAVE STABLE HOUSING WHILE THEY’RE COMPLETING THE EDUCATION NECESSARY FOR SELF-SUFFICIENCY. HOW IMPORTANT IS THIS? OH, THIS IS HUGE BECAUSE THERE’S SUCH A TREMENDOUS NEED THERE. THERE IS NO SHELTER IN ELIZABETHTOWN OTHER THAN JUST RIGHT DURING THE WINTER MONTHS. SO THERE’S NO PLACE FOR FOR FAMILIES WHO ARE STRUGGLING WITH HOUSING INSTABILITY TO GO. AND THIS IS A NATURAL EXTENSION OF OUR WORK ALREADY WITH ECTC. ALL RIGHT. AND MARY BETH, TALK TO ME A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF WINE, WOMEN AND SHOES. AND OBVIOUSLY BEING ABLE TO HELP FUND THIS MAJOR NEED FOR THAT COMMUNITY. YEAH. SO OBVIOUSLY, OUR LOUISVILLE WINE, WOMEN AND SHOES EVENT IS VERY MUCH, MUCH BIGGER AND VERY SUCCESSFUL. SO WHEN KATHY APPROACHED US ABOUT HAVING A WINE, WOMEN AND SHOES AND ELIZABETHTOWN, WE KNEW THAT WE. HAD A GREAT OPPORTUNITY OF GETTING THAT COMMUNITY INVOLVED BECAUSE THEY KNEW THAT THEY WOULD BE SUPPORTING. YES, THE HOUSING THAT WAS GOING TO BE IN ELIZABETHTOWN. AND YOU SAID LAST YEAR YOU RAISED MORE THAN $200,000, $210,000 IN OUR FIRST YEAR. WE’RE HOPING TO DOUBLE THAT THIS YEAR. ALL RIGHT, LADIES, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING US. FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THIS WINE, WOMEN AND SHOES. AND OF COURSE, LEARNING MORE ABOUT THE EXPANSION AND HOW FOLKS CAN DONATE AS WELL, ALL ABOUT. THAT. HOW CAN THEY GET INVOLVED REALLY QUICK? GO TO OUR WEBSITE, FAMILY SCHOLAR.ORG. WE WOULD LOVE TO HAVE THEM INVOLVED IN THE EVENT AND IN THE WORK WE’RE DOING IN ELIZABETHTOWN. IT’S REALLY IMPORTANT. YEAH, IT CERTAINLY IS. ALL RIGHT. BE SURE TO CHECK OUT WLKY.COM LATER THIS AFTERNOON. WE’LL HAVE AN ARTICLE POSTED WITH ALL THE INFORMATION YOU NEED TO KNOW. AGAIN, LADIES, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING US THIS MORNING. JUST TO MENTION THERE ARE VERY, VERY LIMITED SEATS LEFT FOR THIS ELIZABETHTOWN EVENT. THERE YOU GO. VERY LIMITED SEATS. SO GET YOUR TICKETS NOW. WE’LL HAVE MORE INFORMA
