Most were small today, but the big ones will be there. Got another month of good squidding depending on the weather. If you’re near the coast of NH and want to try, let me know. Easy to clean but a little time consuming if you’re new to it. Fresh squid is delightful and quite versatile. Pastas, cold in salads, ceviche style, fried, grilled/smoked (never tried this myself) – and one of my favorites – stuffed!

I only ever caught a couple squid chasing my line on the reel up. I’d love to catch enough to make a meal. I’m in NC now, though, so I don’t think that’s happening haha.

This is awesome! Usually see Japanese people squidding. This is awesome. Wonder if I could do it in NJ.

How would you proceed to cook these squid? Bake or broil? Anybody know?

Nice! My grandma was always the best at fishing in our family, and she wouldn’t even eat it! She’s almost 103 now 🥰

That’s interesting, I’ll have to try this someday. The only times I’ve had squid so far were fried calamari and I enjoyed it.

Worked in kitchens most of my life. Remember paying $5 for 2 fresh lbs in Rhode Island for bait to catch stripers and bluefish in the 90’s. Now, I treat them like (almost a) delicacy. Really great when ya clean them up and stuff the whole- tubes with crab meat then grill…delicately 🤌

Thank you for sharing such a beautiful day with your mom and a wonderful fresh catch! Seafood at its best 💕

Man I haven’t had fresh-caught squid since I lived in Alaska, it’s been almost a decade. There’s just not a lot of squidding in Oregon for reasons I can’t currently remember to do with our currents or something.

Afternoon out with mom and dad. Caught us some Mack’s and squid.🦑 🎣
They must be tender, enjoy!
Now I have the old song “Squid Jigging Ground” in my head 😊
So clean looking. Enjoy.
