Halloween is coming up and I want to go for a modern witchy costume to wear and I think this hat would be perfect. I work at a non-corporate local coffee shop and I’ve worn the hat to work, but I usually leave it hanging in the break room. If I were to wear this during my shift with an outfit to match, would it be considered inappropriate? Hats are allowed where I work but I’m afraid I won’t be allowed as it may obstruct my face when talking to customers

I would prob just ask your manager, IMO it should be fine for Halloween though!

That’s up to your workplace to decide. But I’ve never really seen a large brim hat on any barista, unless it was maybe the day of Halloween.

We would not care at our shop. You can wear anything that’s not offensive or unsanitary where I work.

    Unless you’re a nurse…or an undertaker…

For Halloween? Fine. For a general Tuesday, probably not.

If you look up at the customers when youre talking to them and making eye contact i dont see it being an issue. Make sure it isnt going to bump anything in your work station or your coworkers depending on how narrow of a workspace you have, and make sure your hair isnt getting into your work space. Those’re the only things id be looking out for 🙂

it’d be very unfortunate for any cafe to consider this cool hat inappropriate on any day of the year.

I wear something similar to that regularly with no issues. Customers compliment it all the time and management has no problem with it as far as I know.

Appropriate – maybe*, practical – I think you might find a big floppy hat cumbersome in a rush

    * mileage of appropriateness depends on where you work

I don’t think that hats gonna do much to keep your hair out of the drinks

Depends on dress code. At my shop absolutely, as long as your hair is still tied up/back to meet health code

I think it’s going to get in your way more than anything. I can never wear wide brim hats because if I bend down to get milk from the fridge it catches on the counter and falls off.

Wouldn’t be appropriate for my shop but just ask the manager

Every manager is gonna have their own preference for how they want their employees to present themselves. Even if we all gave you thumbs up, it’s still their business and their call. It’s cute though! Also there may be health department considerations, it’s a stretch but I’ve been hit with some weird rules.

it might be a little too wide for more than one special day. i had to wear a visor for my last barista job and even with that normal sized brim, i was always hitting it on the top of the ice machine lol. this one might bump into coworkers

How would any of us know what constitutes appropriate clothing at your workplace? Ask lmao

I find the wideness of the hat to be a bit off putting if you’re working in a small space and you happen to be a short person. If you’re a taller person, this shouldn’t be a problem because you won’t be running into people accidentally with the hat lol

Really depends on the job. My job? Absolutely fucking not. My second job? Definitely yeah that’s cool

Hat that wide may bump into appliances😇

This is a question for your manager, not Reddit.

The hat is fine but I don’t think it matches particularly well with your squiggly white outfit

On halloween, yes. I would just ask your manager, like someone else said. Other than halloween, I would not wear it but I generally wouldn’t wear any hat inside 😅

I mean, this is 100% dependent on your workplace. We don’t know your jobs culture, guidelines, policies, vibe, anything. At my job it’s not allowed, but at your job it might be fine.
