Brio Italian Grille recently closed at 24325 Cedar Road at Legacy Village in Lyndhurst.
Brio Italian Grille posted signs on its doors announcing its closure and recommending customers visit the restaurant chain’s Columbus or Pittsburgh locations, according to local media. Bravo Brio Restaurant Group, which owns Brio Italian Grille and Bravo Italian Kitchen brands and is based in Orlando, Fla., filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protections on Aug. 20.
The company had multiple reasons for its closing, including inflation and rising costs.
“In addition, outgoing inflationary pressure, rising food and labor costs and a softening in discretionary consumer spending have contributed to underperformance, especially in shopping centers with high vacancies and declining foot traffic,” the company said, accoding to local media “These pressures have proved insurmountable to numerous other legacy casual-dining restaurant brands, many of whom have also turned to bankruptcy as a tool for restructuring.”
Brio and Bravo were founded by brothers Chris and Rick Doody in Columbus. The brands were acquired by FoodFirst Global Restaurants Inc. in 2018, and were bought by Earl Enterprises following the brands’ first encounter with Chapter 11 bankruptcy in April 2020.
Doody owns 17 River Grille, JoJo’s Bar, and Bell & Flower, all in Chagrin Falls; Cedar Creek Grille in Beachwood; Lindey’s Lake House on Cleveland’s Flats East Bank; and Bar Italia in Beachwood, Lakewood and Orlando, Fla.
