Tapville opened just in time for football season at a very strategic spot that makes it the closest food & beverage option to foot traffic going to DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium and the Moody Center.
I work a few blocks away and have been watching the buildout for more than a year. Itβs on the bottom floor of the new UT Health Houston building at the corner of MLK and San Jacinto. Two blocks north of Scholz Garten.
Tapvilleβs concept reminds me of a cross between Wanderlust Wines and The Brass Tap. You check in and get a card that allows you to serve yourself from a wall of taps and pay by the ounce. Price range is .49oz for basic beers up to .99oz for the crafty brews. Not cheap, itβs priced for convenience and its location.
I saw a promo that Wednesdays are 50% off all beer & ciders.
Best food Iβve tried so far is the buffalo chicken dip pictured. They just fully opened Monday and are tweaking their menu & recipes. They have a full bar aside from the wall o beer. Iβm sure game days will put them to the test. Good luck to them. Iβm just glad to see a place to make a pit stop and a meet up point with drinks closer to the arena and stadium. Word is this is the first of several Tapville locations planned for the area.
