I’ve been curious about grape pie ever since learning about it on this sub. Thanks to u/Xander314 for [sharing this recipe](https://www.reddit.com/r/Old_Recipes/s/cFhoz6S6a6)!

The pies are cooling on the rack now but I tried a bit of the filling that spilled out and it’s fantastic! I can’t wait until it’s cooled down enough for a slice.

    Curious on this.

Looking at the recipe it said add pulp (after boiling) to skins. Do you leave the skins as is or do they get any special separate processing?

If no additional processing of the skins I’m curious, do they remain crisp in the pie?

Thanks for sharing the recipe. I can’t stand raw grapes but I love baked grapes (toss ’em with olive oil, bake until they get mushy and sort of caramelized and release juice. So good!)

Ooo this is very interesting! I’ve never seen a grape pie before. Very nice👏👏

My grandmother made grape pie and it was always so good!

This is one of my all-time favorite pie recipes! It reminds me of a tart blueberry pie. I haven’t made it in years because it’s too hard for me to get Concord grapes in my area. 🙁

It’s so time-consuming and messy to make, though. If I was lucky enough to get a good source of grapes, I’d make enough filling for 4 pies at a time and freeze the extra. Made it super simple when I wanted a pie after that – just defrost the filling and pour it into the pie crust to bake.

Of course, I’d be up to my elbows in grape juice by the time I finished making all that filling, and the kitchen would be a sticky mess. But it was worth it!

I did find some seedless Thomcord grapes one year at Trader Joe’s – they’re a Concord/Thompson seedless cross, and are seedless, so you can use the grapes whole. But they’re much sweeter than Concord grapes, so I only used half the sugar.

I’ve never heard of it, but it looks good. Will have to try. Thanks for posting.

  8. Looks great! My husband grew up eating grape pies, and I started making them when we were dating. It’s like grape juice in pie form! The recipe i got from my MIL (which looks similar to the one you used) tends to be verrry sweet, so these days I tend to make the grapes into jam and then make hand pies from there – a better crust-to-filling ratio!

  9. Looks yummy! My recipe calls for red seedless grapes, no boiling or mashing required.

I hope it tastes great. The eye appeal isn’t there for me.

  11. I just wanna know where you can find Concord grapes. I haven’t seen them for years in the store. When I was a kid we used to puck wild grapes that hard to find anymore
