I’m usually pretty good at getting my teenage son fed before he starts his day, but I often fall short of fueling myself. I’ll get my caffeine fix, but then I usually get distracted by work and other obligations.

Before I know it, I can feel a hangry attack coming on. Fortunately, I’ve found a fantastic solution: Aldi’s Breakfast Best Meat Lovers Breakfast Bowl.

Aldi Breakfast Best Breakfast Bowl

Price: $1.49 to $2.15 for a seven-ounce package

Why I Love It: These hearty bowls are packed with scrambled eggs, diced potatoes, shredded cheese, and either sausage and gravy or sausage and bacon. I love how easy they are to reheat on busy mornings.

Why I Love Aldi’s Breakfast Best Meat Lovers Breakfast Bowl

Breakfast Best Meat Lovers Breakfast Bowls come in a single-serving 7-ounce package for only $1.49, which is cheaper than any breakfast offering I’ve found at my favorite coffee shop or brunch restaurant.

The breakfast bowl is basically a skillet breakfast of diced potatoes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and a sprinkling of shredded cheddar cheese. Breakfast Best also offers a sausage and gravy breakfast bowl, which contains eggs, potatoes, gravy, sausage, and cheese.

I grabbed a few bowls when I spied them in Aldi’s freezer section, and then on one desperate morning, I tried one. It totally wowed me. It was truly a meat lover’s bowl, with all the bacon and sausage. The scrambled eggs were surprisingly fluffy considering they’d been frozen. There was just the right amount of cheese, enough to give it some oomph without overpowering the other ingredients. The potatoes were perfectly cooked. If it weren’t in a plastic container, it would have tasted homemade.

I will definitely keep a few of these bowls in my freezer for mornings when I’m rushed and for those days when I need to prevent myself from getting hangry. My husband also loves them because he often has less time to make breakfast for himself than I do, and our teenage son says that he likes the amount of meat in the bowl.

A whole bowl is pretty hearty. I couldn’t finish my entire portion, so I finished it later that day as an afternoon snack. The bowls themselves don’t need anything else, but I think you could take three or four bowls, toss them with some frozen veggies and extra cheese, and you’d have a breakfast casserole that’s good enough for company—especially if you tossed some fresh snipped chives after baking.

Besides serving them for breakfast, these bowls make great lunches, as all it takes is three minutes in the microwave to cook them.

Aldi’s breakfast bowls have truly made mornings easier and tastier for me. Now, instead of starting the day on an empty stomach, I have something that keeps me steady till lunch.
