Hey, I have never made a key lime pie, so I printed out Andrew Zimmerman’s recipe, measured all the ingredients, and I thought it’d be really fun to do together. I’m going to double this recipe so I make two pies. We’re going to start with 3 cups of graham cracker crumbs, a half a cup of brown sugar, and two pinches of kosher salt. Then mix in 12 tablespoons of melted butter, and mix until there’s no more dried graham cracker crumbs. Then just do your best to equally split this graham cracker crust into nine or 10inch pie pans and press it into a nice even layer across the bottom and up the sides of the pie pan. Then we’ll bake these in a 350°ree oven for about 10 minutes or just until this crust sets and it’ll start to turn light golden brown around the edges. Once your graham cracker crusts have cooled to room temperature, we’re going to need 16 egg yolks. So you can save these whites for breakfast or maybe even make a meringue. Then egg yolks in four 14 oz cans of sweetened condensed milk. 2 and 1/2 cups of key lime juice. I could not find any fresh key limes where I live, but I was able to find 100% key lime juice. Two pinches of kosher salt. And you can obviously make this using any kind of mixer you want, but I don’t want you to miss out of the fun if you don’t have one. Then I’m going to do my best to equally fill my graham cracker crust. And this time we’re going to go into a 325°ree oven for about 25 minutes or until this starts to set around the edge but still has a little bit of jiggle in the center. I’ll show you. And you can see our edges have set. But if we give this a tap, we got a little bit of jiggle going on. We want to see the jiggle. You’re going to let these come down to room temperature. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours. Serve them with plenty of whipped cream. and follow me because I think we did a great

Do you think garlic bread taste better than keylime pie?
That is a proper Key Lime Pie. Graham cracker crust is a must and truly no regular lime is the same as a key lime. It is much more tart and has a unique lime flavor. I think the Key lime because it is grown in a semi arid environment on a lime stone soil is very strong and flavor packed into a smaller fruit. A Key Lime is just barely bigger than a golf ball on average. Plus The good sweetest ones are the ones we let go yellow on the tree. I love this recipe. It’s how us in the Conch Republic would make it ourselves..👍👍👍👍👍 and please use real whipped cream instead of some kind of cool whip if you put a topping on it.

I don’t have fresh key limes either, Nellie & Joe’s Key Lime Juice is what I use. The pies are delicious.

I'm from Florida and the original recipe, you don't bake them. We were always told the lime juice cooks the egg yolks and refrigerate.

I go to the mexican grocery store and get their small limes that are from mexico, they are just like key limes and they’re eight for a dollar. Also use 1 tablespoon zest from the limes. As for the crust in place of graham crackers I use biscoff and ground walnuts. Also use a 10” tart pan for the pie….

Excuse my French but I fucking love key lime pie to be honest I love citrus desserts and my family hates it because I always bring a citrus dessert for holiday events and I end up eating it all
Utilizing cinnamon sugar graham crackers is a nice addition for key lime pies. Could also just add some cinnamon to the crushed graham crackers.
